  Hey there! I'm Coach Malissa,

and I am often the first point of contact for our valued families. With years of experience supporting this program, I bring both professional commitment and a deep personal connection—my daughter proudly competes on both of our competitive teams. I am passionate about facilitating your needs and, most importantly, witnessing firsthand the incredible advancement and skill development of every athlete in our program, including my own daughter. I look forward to assisting you!  

Coach Jorge began gymnastics at age 7 and became a Cuban champion by age 9. He was selected to the Cuban National Team, where he competed for five years and was chosen for the 1980 Olympic Team in Moscow. Jorge is Cuba’s most decorated gymnast, winning multiple European competitions and five national titles.

Since moving to the U.S. in 2000, he has earned numerous state and regional championships in both men’s and women’s gymnastics and has coached elite athletes, including Delanie Harkness, a competitor at the U.S. Secret Classic and P&G Championships. Jorge is also a USA Gymnastics men’s judge and is working toward FIG judging credentials. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Manuel Fajardo University in Cuba and a master’s in Computer Science and Cisco Networking from Miami Dade College, and he has experience teaching music at Cuba’s prestigious La Ena School of Art.

Coach Sonia began gymnastics and track and field at age 5, winning multiple state championships by age 7. She reached Level 10 by 9 and competed internationally by 13. After a gymnastics injury, she continued excelling in track and field and earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from the University of Miami, graduating top of her class.

Sonia began coaching at 19 and quickly rose to join the Karolyi Master Staff, working alongside Bela and Marta Karolyi and coaching Olympians such as Nadia Comaneci and Mary Lou Retton. She later trained under Larry Koch, coaching athletes to state, regional, and national titles in gymnastics, cheerleading, and T&T, including two Elite girls and placements on the Tops National Team.
